Assessment principles of the ECCE:
Three section bands, High Pass, Pass, and Low Pass, are considered passing section levels. Two section bands, Borderline Fail and Fail, are considered failing section levels.
Candidates who pass all four sections of the exam always pass the ECCE.
Candidates who fail ONE section of the exam MAY or MAY NOT pass the ECCE. They pass the exam
if their scores on the sections that they pass are high enough to compensate for the one failing section score. Therefore, some candidates who fail one section pass the ECCE, but other candidates who fail one section fail the ECCE.
Candidates who fail two or more sections of the test fail the ECCE.
Candidates who miss or do not take one section of the exam fail the ECCE. Performance on the other sections of the exam does NOT compensate for a section that was skipped or missed.
Candidates who are exempted from the listening test due to severe hearing loss may pass the ECCE if their performance on the other sections of the exam meets the minimum standards.
